We trust strangers, particularly in the aforementioned situations because there are laws that protect us from any possible fraudulent scenarios that a disgruntled postal worker, cashier or sanitation engineer could conceive of. But to really trust someone I think that they have to have some sort of connection to something that bears a lot of personal importance to us. I would trust a garbage man with my recyclables but I wouldn't trust him with my most intimate secrets. When we choose to trust strangers with little things it helps us reinforce our faith in our own society. Trusting certain strangers allows a person to feel that their community is a safe place. If one were to feel totally unsafe in the place that they lived in addition to having nobody to trust with the more personal facets of their lives than that person would be terribly lonely. We can't trust everyone because not everyone has earned that honor. Some people are reckless or insensitive and some people simply aren't a good match for certain others and when we feel like we can't find even one person to trust we may begin to doubt ourselves as well. Trust is very fragile.

Time and proximity...I think most people inherently trust other people. Unfortunately, nearness can breed a lot of mistrust, especially when someone has enough time to ruin any of that initial trust you possessed.

So might as well put ourselves out there and trust in ourselves! :]

because strangers are less likely to leave heart scars.
you know what they say, the ones you love always hurt you the most.

we fear the unknown, but i think we fear the known even more.

happy weekend darling. go and visit your s/o already so we can get some shaved ice in rowland heights :)
