Beloved citizens of the world, DO SOMETHING REVOLUTIONARY.

day 65

Beloved citizens of the world,
I want you to do something revolutionary.

And I want you to start
right
about
now.

I want you to revolt against the media, against the society, against anyone and everyone– teachers, parents, classmates, coworkers, “friends”, YOURSELF– who tells you the lie that you are not good enough.

I want you to revolt against every corporation and commercial that tells you that you won’t be attractive, smart, get a significant other, or have friends unless you buy, eat, or wear their product and look exactly like everyone else.

I want you to revolt against every single message that tells you that you have to be perfect, that you have to fit in, that you have to look or act a certain way, that you have to be wanted and loved by other people, that you have to be anything but just yourself to have a happy and peaceful life.

I want you to revolt against anything in the world that tells you you have to do anything other than simply BE YOU.

I want you stop listening to everyone else, including me. I want you to listen to yourself.

You’re a fucking star, and you know it. You’re amazing at doing the only thing YOU can, that no one else can– be yourself.

Now go revolt.

Go do.

Go BE.

Answer to the last post: RVXN stands for revolution.

And now that we’ve started this revolution, I want you to share it.

@PixelHazard: The point isn’t to aim for mediocrity, it isn’t to aim to be anything except yourself and do your own personal best, because every one of us is individually different and can’t be compared :]

ugh, i swear it’s like middle school/high school that gives us that mentality that we all have to conform to some sort of “norm” (whatever that might be) and it just sticks with us to some degree for the rest of our lives. or at least that’s how it worked out in my life. it’s only in the past few years that i’ve really been able to not really care what other people think of the way i dress/the music i like/the makeup i wear etc. because i finally realized that things like that are pretty unimportant in the grand scheme of things and are just there to make me happy.

granted there are situations where it’s probably in my best interests to conform. business meetings, going to my boyfriend’s family functions, funerals, etc. but you know what i mean!

on a different note, that sky in that photo is AMAZING. can you imagine that as a fabric print? i’d love to have a dress made out of it. gorgeous.

Sui, your words are always such an inspiration.

I agree with Alicia, in that some of what we think and are exposed to in our middle and high school years about ‘conforming’ to a majority or a group sticks with us. It’s really difficult – and really courageous – to believe that you don’t have to conform to anything, and to go out and be your own person. This, I have always believed.

I had a hard time during high school and early college understanding this but not being able to face my true self, and let it be what I showed to other people. Lately it’s been getting easier, and I think I know why: the first step of liberating yourself from the expectations of society&others is to truly love yourself.

    volt [(vohlt)]

The unit of electromotive force, the volt measures how much “pressure” there is in an electric circuit. The higher the voltage, the more electrical current will flow in the circuit.

[...] And don’t be afraid to be yourself. Being yourself is one more (HUGE) step towards loving yourself– and that expression of yourself, in its stubbornness to refuse to simply become whatever anyone else tells you to become, is revolutionary in its own right.
